Abstract

Introduction: Induction of Future Liver Remnant (FLR)-hypertrophy is often required in the treatment of patients with colorectal liver metastases (CRLM), hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (IHCC) and small Future Liver Remnants. However, due to inadequate hypertrophy or disease progression, approximately 15-24% of PVE patients do not ultimately undergo the planned hepatectomy. Therefore Associated liver partition and portal vein ligation (ALPPS) and combined Portal and Hepatic Vein Embolization (PVE/HVE) are increasingly performed in search for a better resectability in these patients.
