Abstract

This paper presents a case study of a lifelong learning initiative which was aimed at the executives of a specific industrial sector - the printing and packaging companies within the Yorkshire and Humberside areas of the UK. A supporting online learning environment has been developed within the Virtual Science Park at the University of Leeds. It has been the aim that such a learning environment should facilitate a bi-directional knowledge transfer between the industry and academe, and the dynamics of this interaction were supported by a series of face-to-face workshops and the online environment. The paper concludes with further work and challenges ahead.
