Abstract

Vesicle Fusion In article number 2206823, using the bottom-up synthetic reconstitution, electron microscopy, and in-vivo amperometry, Yongsoo Park and co-workers show novel mechanisms of vesicle fusion triggered by calcium ions. Cholesterol stabilizes the local membrane bending induced by synaptotagmin-1 insertion, thereby lowering the energy barrier for Ca2+-dependent fusion to occur.
