Abstract

In our country, for many years, the main beef production was from dairy animals, and only about 5 % of the cattle population accounted for beef cattle. In modern conditions of the development of dairy cattle breeding, there is a decrease in the number of over-replacement young animals for fattening, and therefore in recent years they have begun to pay close attention to the increase in beef cattle breeds. The purpose of the work was to study the reproductive ability of cattle obtained by embryo transfer using recipients of different breeds of beef productivity under the conditions of the Southern Urals. The research was carried out in LLC “Agrofirma Kalininskaya” of the Chelyabinsk region, where cattle of Hereford breed are successfully bred. Cows bred by embryo transfer using recipients of Hereford (n=24) and Simmental breeds (n=94) who were in the same feeding and housing conditions were selected for the study. It was found by analyzing the research results that the reproductive ability of cows bred by embryo transfer is preserved. In addition, the indicators of reproductive ability in such heifers and cows are even slightly higher than those of their herdmates obtained naturally. When comparing groups of breeding stock reared with using diff erent breeds of recipients, the best results in terms of reproductive ability were in animals bred by embryo transfer using recipients of Simmental breed. In these cows, the coefficient of reproductive ability was 1,00, which indicates a high reproductive ability of animals.
