Abstract

The social work profession has a rich history of participating in and influencing the work of the United Nations (UN) and its affiliate agencies. Three of the leading social work organizations that have consultative status with the UN are: the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), and the International Council on Social Welfare (ICSW). This chapter focuses primarily on representing social work at the UN through the IFSW, of which the author of this chapter is an appointed representative.
