Representing homology classes of almost definite 4-manifolds

Abstract

For simply connected 4-manifolds C P 2# M CP 2, the representing problem of homology classes by embedded spheres is studied. A nonrepresentability condition is given. By using properties about automorphisms of unimodular quadratic forms over integers, some representability results are obtained.
