Abstract

This paper deals with the problem of representing and organising C-axis feature information in a rotational-type component CAPP system. The tolerance relations, the manufacturing feasibility as well as the manufacturing sequence of C-axis features, are presented. Mechanisms for geometric, manufacturing and shop-floor validity checking in modelling are discussed also. The process selection and sequencing of C-axis features is discussed. It is expected that a realistic CAPP system to cater to industrial needs would be incomplete without C-axis features.
