Recension et analyse de ces representations attestees par les inscriptions cuneiformes sur les reliefs relatant les conquetes assyriennes, d'Ashurnasipal II (IX s. av. J.-C.) a Assurbanipal (668-627). Celles-ci ne correspondent pas toujours exactement aux vestiges archeologiques et documents de l'epoque. Importance documentaire des details: armes, vetements, scenes militaires et rituelles. Liste commentee des forteresses de Gilzanu, Arsashku (urart.), Kisheslu, Kindau, Harhar (medes), Hamanu, Madaktu (elamites) figurant sur les portes de Balawat, a Nimrud, Ninive, Khorsabad. Aspects narratifs, topographiques, stylistiques.
