Abstract
The authors obtain a representation of the reflection coefficient of a uniformly stratified magnetodielectric system in the form of a trigonometric series. It is shown that the problem of synthesizing the physical parameters of a layered system from a specified reflection coefficient cannot be solved unambiguously, while the problem of electrodynamic parameter synthesis has a unique solution.
