Abstract

This article aimed to discuss the representativeness of people with disability in cinema, presenting the representations already presents and discuss about how the promoted meanings impact the social imaginary and also school and a social inclusion. Was made a qualitative study, with exploratory nature, carried out through selection and analysis of movies that have characters with disability in your plot. Throughout the study, we chose to discover cinematic works that express good representation. For research object the work Forrest Gump (1994) was considered, a film that has in its story a character with na intellectual disabillity and which was selected because it allows a deeper analysis of a positive representation. The study demonstrated how the cinema lacks positive representations of this social group, being mostly composed of caricatured and stereotyped interpretations, having his character construction almost entirely summarized by his disability.
