Abstract

The affectivity lived and experienced in the academic environment as an instrument of representations of students and educators is the theme of this work, in which we seek to analyze how students and teachers represent affectivity in the educational relationship. The qualitative design research was carried out at a public university in Bahia and had the participation of 133 employees, including students and professors. Based on the Theory of Social Representations (TRS), we collected the data using the Free Word Association Technique (TALP). The study shows that the possible Central Nucleus of the representation of affectivity in the Higher Education classroom is composed of the following elements: respect, understanding, friendship and support. The results show that students and teachers have the perception that affection in the classroom is positive, despite causing fears in some. The research contributes to the field of the formation of the subjectivity of the student and his/her development and involvement in learning.
