Abstract

The chapter’s aim is to make it easier to cover Latinos during election times, armed with the historical, census, demographic data and exploring changing trends such as Latino participation in elections. Reporters reading this chapter will be better prepared to confront the nuances and challenges when covering Latinos during electoral processes in the United States. It also provides experienced opinions from former news directors of TV Networks such as Univision and other news media on how they have dealt with those challenges, in the newsroom and during news coverage. Finally, the chapter provides tools and tips of the trade, as well as discussion topics and potential assignments.
