Abstract

AbstractThe Fifth International Conference on Ming History (Diwujie Zhongguo Mingshi guoji xueshu taolunhui) was convened in Xi'an from August 15 to August 20, 1993. The location of the meeting was the Xi'an People's Hotel (Xi'an renmin daxia). This was also the third biennial meeting of the Chinese Society for Ming Dynasty History (Zhongguo Mingshi xuehui). The conference was jointly hosted by the Ming History Section of the History Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (Zhongguo shekeyuan [CASS] lishisuo Mingshishi), Xi'an Union University Teacher's College (Xi'an lianda shifan xueyuan), and Huazhong Teacher's College (Huazhong shifan xueyuan). The participants included more than 100 scholars from the PRC, seventeen from Taiwan, thirteen from Japan, six from South Korea, and two from the United States. Fees were paid on a sliding scale for foreigners, non-PRC Chinese, and mainland Chinese.
