Abstract

Recent Developments in Nanodielectrics: The Role of the Interphase As polymeric nanocomposites are becoming one of the most cutting-edge topics in material science, their thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties are drawing much attention in the field of dielectric and electrical insulation. Many studies have been done to reveal properties, mechanisms, and potential applications of polymeric nanocomposites, i.e., nanodielectrics. Despite the effort on this fascinating topic, there are still many issues and questions to be solved. Therefore, to promote the research and discussion on nanodielectrics, especially on the role of the interphase, IEEE DEIS and Xi’an Jiaotong University organized the second summer school on interfaces in nanodielectrics in August 2016 in Xi'an. Over 30 postgraduate students from top universities in China joined this summer school. The organizers of this summer school were Peter Morshuis from Solid Dielectric Solutions, John Fothergill from City University London, Alun Vaughan, and Thomas Andritsch from University of Southampton. The major discussion was focused on the following issues:
