Abstract

C for female sexual wellness and the diagnosis and treatment of female sexual dysfunction has led to its becoming a subspecialty in medical care over the past several decades. The small multidisciplinary group of 355 who first convened in Boston in 1999 as “The Female Sexual Function Forum” has grown to become The International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH), a robust international society of over 725 active members from 29 countries. The members of the society are reflective of the diversity and complexity within the field of female sexual health, and include: physicians (from diverse backgrounds: gynecology, urology, endocrinology, oncology, internal medicine, family medicine, psychiatry), nurse practitioners in women’s health, psychologists, counselors, sex therapists, physical therapists.
