Abstract
Background: With the assistance of a £1500 travel bursary from BAOMS I undertook a 2-week fellowship in Noma reconstruction with Facing Africa – an NGO with 11 years experience of surgical missions to Ethiopia. Alongside experienced Maxillofacial and Plastic surgeons, the fellowship included extensive pre-mission patient selection and treatment planning; assessment and surgical management of complex facial defects and management of wounds and complications.
