Abstract

On April 28, 1966, the International Studies Association-Southern Region and the Institute of International Studies of the University of South Carolina co-sponsored on the South Carolina campus a one-day conference on the teaching of international relations. The purpose of the conference was to contact teachers at some of the smaller institutions in South Carolina who, in many respects, are isolated from regular professional exchanges either through their physical location or because the teaching of international relations is only a part of an individual's teaching load in political science or history. In planning the conference, the organizers took into account many considerations. A brief discussion of the background of the meeting and of the proceedings might interest a wider audience in view of the commonness of some of the problems raised.
