Abstract
Below you will find a description of the activities of the AGU distilled from the dollar transactions involved in its operations. For those of you concerned with such a distillation, a presentation is made which demonstrates the current financial state of the Union, the changes from 1975, and the proposed expenditures for this year. It was decided that the evolutionary pattern presented was a necessary service to the membership.This presentation is made in a format which is felt to be most informative to the membership rather than one required by auditors. The numbers in the two reports are equivalent and may be recovered from the other by a suitable linear transformation. The audited report is available to any member on written request to the AGU office. The ‘new’ item in the 1976 statement under liabilities recognizes long‐term obligations on the part of the Union to staff, to life members, and to those who paid for three years of membership and journals last year.
