Report of the Secretary

Abstract

This report is confined to those items likely to be of interest in connection with the discussion at the annual meeting. The Secretary’s and Treasurer’s reports and the reports of the journal editors and committee chairs are published in the print and electronic versions of the Proceedings issue of the American Economic Review (May) posted on the Association’s website. I shall be glad to answer questions at the meeting on any matters that have been omitted. Annual Meetings. The next annual meeting will be held in Philadelphia, January 3–5, 2014. Placement Service will open for business one day earlier than the meetings. The locations for subsequent meetings are: Boston (2015), San Francisco (2016), Chicago (2017), Atlanta (2018), Philadelphia (2019) and San Diego (2020). Elections. In accordance with the bylaws on election procedures, I hereby certify the results of the recent balloting and report the actions of the Nominating Committee and the Electoral College. The Nominating Committee, consisting of Angus Deaton, Chair, Kyle Bagwell, Steven Berry, Marianne Bertrand, Barbara Craig, Lars Hansen, Eric Leeper, and John Shoven submitted its nominations for Vice-Presidents and members of the Executive Committee. The Electoral College, consisting of the Nominating Committee and Executive Committee meeting together, selected the nominee for Presidentelect. No petitions were received nominating additional candidates.
