Abstract

The 20 members of the General Committee have not changed since the last report (in Taxon 48: 373-378. 1999). The 17 members of the General Committee present at the St Louis Nomenclature Section meetings (all except Hiepko, Menitsky, and Pichi Sermolli) met on Thursday 29 July 1999 to consider Permanent Committee Reports, in draft or in proof, dealing with proposals to conserve or reject. The proposals did not prove controversial, so the General Committee could act on them in time for the Congress to ratify its actions. This means that proposals listed below as approved (all by 17 votes, without dissent) by the General Committee were so mentioned in the General Committee report presented to and ratified by the Nomenclature Section on Friday 30 July 1999, and were rubberstamped by the whole Congress by means of an apposite Congress Resolution on 7 August. The corresponding names will appear in the St Louis Code without asterisks. All are proposals to conserve unless noted as a proposal to reject or to amend extant entries. The Nomenclature Section, at the election held on 30 July, re-established the General Committee, now with 25 members, as reported elsewhere in this issue.
