Abstract

We appreciate some of the concerns raised by the author of the editorial comment and agree with the comments. After 4 mg of terazosin monotherapy, the mean nocturnal frequency decreased by only 0.1 episode from baseline according to both the International Prostate Symptom Score and frequency-volume chart that was not accompanied by a significant improvement in the quality-of-life index. However, after adding 25 mg of hydrochlorothiazide to 4 mg of terazosin, a further decrease occurred in the mean nocturnal frequency of 0.2 and 0.4 using the International Prostate Symptom Score and frequency-volume chart, respectively.
