Abstract

We enjoyed reading the summary by Dr Semela and colleagues and we agree entirely that the ecNOS/GRK2 pathway is likely to be important in portal hypertension and modulation of intrahepatic blood flow. We would emphasize that there is still much to be learned, in particular about how GRK2 interacts with AKT and thus how this interaction affects ecNOS activity. We also agree that a fundamental challenge will be to translate the new biology to the clinic.
