Abstract

We thank Dr. Mansoori for her interest in our study. Dr. Mansoori offers several important factors to consider regarding the utility of postoperative week 1 visits after cataract surgery and points out many indications for a postoperative week 1 visit after cataract surgery. In our study, we presented data on almost 2000 cataract surgeries performed at a tertiary care academic center in the United States. However, it is notable that we excluded approximately one third of the surgical cases from our analysis because of intraoperative findings, postoperative day 1 abnormalities, and reported symptoms at the postoperative week 1 timepoint. 1 Borkar D.S. Borkar and associates1 have concluded that the unexpected management changes at the 1-week postoperative period after the cataract surgery are seen in 0.9% of asymptomatic patients who have had uncomplicated cataract surgery and a routine day 1 postoperative examination.
