Abstract
We have reported microparticle migration in experiment on curved fluid interfaces, and derived expressions for the associated curvature capillary energy for particles with either pinned or equilibrium contact lines. Experiment agrees with the expression for pinned contact lines. Our predicted forms differ from others in the literature, and are challenged in two Comments. Here, we address these Comments and identify sources of conceptual misunderstanding.
