Abstract

A Frank-Kaspar phase-related periodic model of V-Ni is set up. It explains well the experimental data of the dodecagonal phase [see Phys. Rev. Lett. 60, 1645 (1988)] but not the corresponding unclear high-resolution electron-microscopic image. The dodecagonal phase can be understood to be that of a perturbed nonclassical crystal.
