Dear Editor, Many thanks to Dr. Bush and Dr. Hillier for their interest in my study about cervical transforaminal injections of steroids ⇓. Bush and Hillier compare my results with their own series of patients with cervical monoradiculopathy treated with periradicular/epidural steroid injections ⇓; they found striking differences. In the study of Bush and Hillier, patients not only had radicular pain but also all but one had additionally a radiculopathy with neurological signs and all but one were candidates for surgical decompression. Using three different injection techniques (not only transforaminal) a pain reduction of 80% or even 100% was achieved in every patient. Although many patients presented with motor weakness, surgery could be avoided in all patients. Their conclusion is that “almost all …
