Abstract

I'd like to thank Dr. Almond for his careful review and thoughtful letter regarding the nascent Children's Surgery Center Verification Program. This program is being developed within the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and is derived from the work of the Task Force for Children's Surgical Care [1]. Dr. Almond raises a number of important issues that have been discussed throughout this development process. Indeed, some are areas of active refinement as noted below. His comments and related references are extensive, so I have attempted to group these and respond here to the major points.
