Abstract
I welcome the comments of Dane Blair to my paper on waveform inversion of bar waves. These comments certainly point out the complexity of wave propagation in bars. In the development of the inversion technique, I had performed waveform analyses for cylindrical bars. It is worthwhile to present some results of these analyses in order to emphasize the condition under which the inversion technique is applicable.
