Abstract

Objective To objectively evaluate the quality of vision and assess the repeatability of measurements with a double-pass system after different intraocular lens(IOLs)implantation.Methods This study assessed eyes that had cataract surgery with implantation of AR40e(35 patients 35 eyes); 920H,Rayner(35 patients 35 eyes); and Tecnis ZMA00(25 patients 25 eyes) IOLs (mean age 62.6±13.18y).Exclusion criteria were astigmatism higher than 1.50 D and active ocular disease.The patients' optical quality with the OQAS 3 months after surgery was assessed,including:Objective scattering index(OSI),MTF cut-off point(COMTF),Strehl ratio(SR)and the width of the PSF at 10 and 50 per cent of its maximal height (PSF10,PSF50).Three repeated consecutive measurements were taken by the same examiner.The coefficient of variation(CV),intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC)and 95% tolerance limits of change(95%TC)were calculated and analyzed.Results The mean OSI was 2.12±1.12 for all the patients.In AR40e,920H and ZMA00 groups,OSI was 1.68±1.09,2.11 ± 1.12 and 2.56± 1.15,respectively (F =1.628,P =0.036).In AR40e group,95%TC changes were 8.8% at OSI,8.6% at COMTF,9.6% at SR,8.2% at PSF10 and 7.9% at PSF50.In AR40e group,CV was(7.51±2.28)% at OSI,(13.50±5.28)% at COMTF,(9.66±5.15)% at SR,(9.43±2.36)% at PSF10,(12.88±6.27)% at PSF50; No statistically significance among them(F =1.732,P =0.066).In AR40e group,ICC was 0.889 at OSI,0.766 at COMTF,0.627 at SR,0.783 at PSF10,0.886 at PSF50; No statistically significance among them(F =1.659,P =0.086).Conclusions All the IOLs performed well according to the variables.It is effective to obtain objective information about visual quality in pseudophakic eyes.
