Abstract

The important economical results accomplished on the Erie Railway (now the New York, Lake Erie and Western Railroad) within the last six years, by the use of béton, warrant making an exception to the general rule concerning methods which are protected by letters patent, and induce me to give an account of a material which is capable of extensive application by engineers.
