Abstract
Summary A foal with congenital atresia of the left dorsal colon was repaired surgically. After the successful repair, a search of the literature was conducted to determine the factors necessary for a repair and for the possible inheritance factor. Theories of etiology, development, and repair in animals and man are reported. No successful repair in the foal has been previously reported.
