Abstract

The transformation of Chinese big business stands at a crossroads. China’s explosive economic growth since the early 1980s has been accompanied by major change in the nature of China’s big businesses. This has occurred alongside the institutional transformation of big business in OECD countries, especially the USA, a rapid increase in multinational investment in emerging markets, particularly in China, and a transformation of international politico-economic relationships. Moreover, China’s rise poses large challenges for international politics. The future pattern of the relationship between multinational business and emerging big businesses in China will be powerfully shaped by international relationships, especially that between China and the USA.KeywordsForeign Direct InvestmentChinese EconomyInternational PoliticsInternational RelationshipPublisher LimitedThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
