Abstract
The orbital radii of Simons and Bloch, based on non-integral angular momenta and determined from spectroscopic valence term values, can be refined by fitting to valence pseudo-wave function maxima as well. The renormalization procedure is applied to the hydrogenic ions of the first period and substantial deviations from the simple Simons model are found.
