Abstract
Abstract Motivated by the second law a renormalization scheme is introduced within the framework of classical, non-linear hydrodynamics that enables one to directly calculate the essential results of the quantum theory of interacting phonons. Consequences for quantum mode coupling and the quantum fluctuation dissipation theorem are discussed.
