Abstract

In Northern Europe, there a prevalence of telemedicine systems implemented at the national level. In Norway, the Norwegian Centre for Integrated Care and Telemedicine (NST) in Tromso became, in 1993, the national center of competence in telemedicine, which manages telemedicine projects. The majority of European countries have telemedicine systems that cover two care settings, in particular the primary and the secondary care. Regions of Europe Working Together for Health was a European project, funded under the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP)'s information and communication technology (ICT) Policy Support Programme (PSP), by the European Commission and 20 other partners. In the Veneto region, a single platform has been developed for the delivery of both telecare and telehealth services. The main goal of the RENEWING HEALTH project was to assess telemonitoring services based on ICT technologies under various aspects.
