Abstract

Oriel 1 is a new gallery at St Fagans: National History Museum that opened in March 2007. The aim was to create a thought-provoking gallery that explores the meaning of being Welsh though the use of objects, photography, film, art and personal stories. The first exhibition at Oriel 1 is Perthyn/Belonging. This exhibition examines the theme of Welsh identities and demonstrates that there are many different ways of being part of Wales. The exhibition has been created with local communities, schools, authors, painters and poets.
