Abstract

The main stages of renewable energy development in Russia are considered. The role played by the Scientific and Technical Progress Department of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation and the Russian Union of Scientific and Engineering Associations Committee for RES in formulating and solving problems of providing regulatory and scientific support at the initial and subsequent stages of the renewable energy development in Russia is shown. Unresolved problems of providing regulatory support to and stimulating the development of important renewable energy areas are pointed out, including the production of thermal energy and use of geothermal energy and biomass, and relevant proposals are given. Data on the commissioned capacities of solar and wind power plants connected to the grids of the UES of Russia are given. The tasks to be solved by the scientific and technical community, including the RES Committee, in the further development of renewable energy in Russia are formulated.
