Abstract

Renal vascularization by splenic artery implantation into the kidney was studied in 11 dogs. Renal function and blood flow were evaluated after creation of stenosis of the ipsilateral renal artery. It was concluded that the method can be used to revascularize an ischemic kidney resulting in a sufficient renal blood flow with an adequate distribution of blood and maintenance of a reasonably good renal function after contralateral nephrectomy and division of the ipsilateral renal artery.
