Abstract

It is a distinct honor to give the John Homans Lecture, the fifteenth since the inaugural address in 1951. This narrative is about the renal artery and renovascular hypertension. It is a story about elementary pathology, the downstream physiologic consequences of renal artery stenoses, transformative endovascular technology, and challenging surgical procedures. It reflects my personal perspective of these subjects since the early 1970s.
