Abstract

Renal arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is a very rare phenomenon. Fewer than 200 cases have been reported in the literature. They most commonly present with hematuria in young women. Renal AVMs may be cirsoid (multibranched) or cavernous. Cirsoid morphology predominates 3:1. Historical treatment is surgical requiring partial or total nephrectomy. More recently endovascular techniques have been employed effectively. We present 2 cases of large renal AVMs treated with single Amplatzer plug embolization.
