Abstract
It is no mere coincidence that the Omnibus production of Another Two of the Many Tales for a Lost Tribe starts with J.S. Bach’s “Passacaglia in C Minor.” No mere coincidence, no, but a strict adherence to René-Daniel Dubois’s text, a text boiling over. Boiling over into music? No; into harsh counterpoint instead – an obsessive theme perpetually running after itself, eight bars in self-pursuit, words looking for themselves, a simple sentence swiftly uttered twofold, threefold, fourfold, off chasing itself, forever catching up with itself too late; a simple sentence whose breathless repetition winds into a huge, increasingly dense skein. The same sentence, amplified from one voice to the next.
