Abstract

The performance of a magnetic ion-imprinted chitosan resins (MICR) have been investigated for the adsorption processes of Th(IV) ions from aqueous solution. Infrared spectra (IR) and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) show that it is a successful cross-linking and ion-imprinting process, and Th(IV) has been adsorbed onto the MICR. Experimental equilibrium data has been obtained and the results have shown that the Langmuir isotherm model better fits the experimental data compared with the Freundlich isotherm. Two simplified models including pseudo-first order and pseudo-second order equations were selected to simulate the adsorption process.
