Abstract
ABSTRACT The adsorption of Th(IV) ions by nano-Kaolin and nano-Kaolin/MnFe2O4 composite were studied as a function of pH, sorbent mass, time, and temperature. Kinetic data was fitted to pseudo second-order model, and the maximum value of the adsorption capacity of the monolayer (qm) for nano-Kaolin and nano-Kaolin/MnFe2O4 was at pH 3. The Langmuir, Freundlich, and Dubinin–Radushkevich isotherm equations were fitted to the adsorption data and the proper constants were calculated. From adsorption isotherms at different temperatures, ΔH° (endothermic), ΔG° (favourable), and ΔS° (positive) were calculated.
