Abstract

Supernumerary teeth (ST) is a number and morphology developmental alteration with higher incidence in the incisive/canine region. When between the superior incisors, it is called mesiodens. A 7-year-old patient sought dental treatment complaining of failure of eruption of central incisors. Physical examination and radiograph showed the presence of 3 supernumerary teeth, not rudimentary, located between units 12 and 22 and in the apical region of 51 and 61, with distalization and impaction of teeth 11 and 21, distalization of 12 and 22, and compromised trajectory of eruption of 13 and 23. The treatment consisted of supernumerary teeth removal. After 10 months of surgery, the impacted teeth erupted. Through this case report it is possible to observe that ST represents a common occurrence in the oral cavity and can lead to aesthetic and functional alterations.
