Abstract1. The diagnostic features and natural course of glomus jugulare tumors are presented.2. The difficulties of operative removal are illustrated.3. The experimental background and clinical application of selective cerebral hypothermia are outlined.4. A case of recurrent glomus jugulare tumor without neurologic involvement is presented in which excision of the tumor was successfully performed during ten minutes of cerebral vascular occlusion provided by selective brain cooling.
