Abstract

Research on remote and hybrid work often overlooks the impact of these arrangements on employee commitment and engagement. While many studies focus on technological challenges or the effects on productivity and work-life balance, few explore how remote work shapes employee attitudes and behaviors, particularly in terms of involvement with the work and commitment to the organization. This chapter addresses this gap by presenting empirical insights into the effects of remote work on these key dimensions. Through a quantitative approach, 211 complete responses were collected via an online questionnaire, using validated scales by Schaufeli and Bakker for engagement and Meyer and Allen for commitment. The results suggest that remote work positively influences employee engagement and organizational commitment by fostering positive social relationships. However, the success of remote work practices depends on their careful implementation and the presence of supportive policies.
