Abstract

The article deals with the problem of light pollution in the area of the Western Balkan countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania). The survey presented in this article examines the radiance data obtained by remote sensing using the SUOMI satellite. The article shows the situation concerning light pollution between 2013 and 2021. It also makes an analysis of the changes in terms of light pollution by individual countries. The article also highlights the changes in the dark sky areas, which, with a specific set of measures to limit light pollution, could represent the future areas of the "Dark Sky" protected parks.
