Abstract

The possibility of an efficient remote processing (drilling and cutting) of metals using simultaneously a cw CO2 laser and a repetitively pulsed Nd:YAG laser is shown. The specific energy input obtained experimentally is close the energy spent upon processing by a sharply focused beam from a repetitively pulsed CO2 laser.
