Abstract

This article describes the results of the study of a synchronized two-sided remote fault localization (RFL) method, including the study of the prototype RFL device as part of a multifunctional system (MFS) with a real-time digital simulator (RTDS). The RFL of overhead transmission lines is a required function of modern electric power station and substation automation systems. The RFL function can be implemented both in separate specialized devices and in relay protection devices for overhead transmission lines or emergency event recorders.
