Abstract

The proctorship training model is a proven tool for learning new and refined techniques from expert surgeons. It can however be resource-demanding and logistically challenging, with these barriers aggravated during the COVID-19 pandemic, given travel restrictions and social distancing. This study aimed: 1) to determine whether a novel 360o head camera is a potentially valuable tool to replace in-person proctorship and facilitate endoscopic vessel harvesting (EVH) training; and 2) to develop a study to further test the remote proctorship concept in other settings, including remote surgical assessment and the provision of remote surgical, trauma, and emergency aid.
